-- AGATHA CHRISTIE Sleeping Murder First Edition 1976 Collins Crime Club VG Copy with Dust Jacket --

Very good first edition of Agatha Christie's final Miss Marple novel, published by Collins Crime Club in 1976. Complete with the original dust jacket, which is price-clipped. A clean, attractive copy of one of the most significant late Christie publications.

Although published posthumously in 1976, Sleeping Murder was written many years earlier and carefully set aside by Christie for future publication. The novel represents the last case of Miss Jane Marple, Christie's much-loved village sleuth, and occupies a unique place within the canon of twentieth-century detective fiction. The story follows newlywed Gwenda Reed as she moves into a house on the south coast of England and begins to experience disturbing sensations of familiarity. As fragments of memory surface, an unsolved murder from the past emerges, prompting Miss Marple to unravel a mystery that has remained hidden for years.

As the final Miss Marple novel to be published, Sleeping Murder remains an essential title for Christie collectors and readers alike. Together with Curtain, which brought Hercule Poirot's career to a close, it forms part of Christie's carefully planned literary farewell to her two greatest detectives. The book therefore holds particular importance within any comprehensive Agatha Christie collection and is one of the key posthumous Crime Club first editions.

Condition: Very good in the publisher's original boards. Binding sound and text clean. Original dust jacket present and in very good condition, price-clipped. A highly presentable example of a desirable Christie first edition and an increasingly sought-after Collins Crime Club title.
