A young woman has been brutally murdered near a secretive military base, and the Pentagon wants it handled quietly. Operating without his badge, Reacher teams up with local sheriff Elizabeth Deveraux. As they dig deeper, they uncover a high-level Washington conspiracy. Reacher faces a devastating choice between obeying his orders or pursuing true justice. The explosive fallout from this case ultimately forces his final, dramatic exit from the military.
