Book Summary

When Miss Marple receives a worrying letter from her old friend Carrie Louise Serrocold, she travels to Stonygates, a sprawling country house that has been converted into a rehabilitation home for young offenders.

The household appears respectable on the surface, but beneath it lies a web of secrets, family tensions, and hidden motives. Following a dramatic shooting and a shocking murder, Miss Marple must unravel a series of carefully constructed deceptions. As the clues begin to fall into place, she discovers that appearances can be dangerously misleading and that, like a clever stage illusion, events are not always what they seem.

A classic Christie mystery filled with misdirection, intrigue, and one of Miss Marple's finest investigations.
